Great people and knowledgeable staff helped me build this bike from the frame and various used parts they have collected around the shop. Good prices and rare finds at this shop, their goal is to get people on the road with their new bikes.

Relocated

Hey All!

I’ve recently relocated to Portland, Oregon from Seattle. School was getting too pricey and I needed a change in scenery, so I’ve found a new place to call home. Just getting settled in and waiting to setup my studio again. No more school = creativity. So expect a lot more of that to come. If you are in the Portland area feel free to get ahold of me as I love meeting new people.

Feeble Fire

Tonight I had a photo session in my backyard with my roommate Zack Bishop on his skateboard. It was fun to blow things up (almost caught the fence and carport roof on fire), and get in a good photo session. Thanks to Skelley and Erick Junke for the help during the shoot. Albumen: Wood Prints

So I got to experiment with the Albumen process last week at the school lab. The process involves mixing sodium chloride, citric acid, tapioca starch and a ton of egg whites with another coat of silver nitrate for the sensitizing. For my final project I decided to print on some thin birch wood. The process was very fun but time consuming. Took about 8 hours to get four 5×7 wood prints and about 10 other test prints on hotpress papers. I’ll definitely be experimenting with this process more in the future as I was very pleased with the outcome especially with the wooden ones. Check out pics after the break.

Camping in Port Townsend

Just took a mini camping trip out to Port Townsend with a group of photographers this last weekend. We visited Fort Worden with an old armory and Point Wilson Lighthouse and Fort Flagler with awesome scenic beaches. Got some great shots and had quite the camping experience. With temperatures getting pretty low and snow on the passes I think this was going to be the last trip for the year. Check out the gallery for some pics from the weekend.

Recovering From A Disaster

On Wednesday I had a terrible experience involving my Aperture library. My external harddrive which contained all my photos from the last 3 years was ejected improperly when my laptop battery died, which caused the whole drive to become dysfunctional. With no backups of my library on any of my drives I thought I had lost all the hard work I’ve created over the years.

I began researching recovery services and soon found Boomerang Data Recovery. I installed it and began the scan, but was halted about 78% along the way after a day. I gave up with this program and was recommended to use Data Recovery 3 from ProSoft. The test trial came up with results only after a couple of hours, but limited me to 10MB of recovery. My library consists of over 99GB of RAW files so that wasn’t going to work.

So after $99 to purchase the full version, I now have all my original files restored. I’ve come across a few files that weren’t completely recoverable, lost all my metadata, projects and edits; However, the fact that this software restored most of the originals was truely a life saver. I’m looking forward to re-editing most of my keepers and building a new solid library from the ground up. Backing up will definitely be more implemented into my workflow now with copying Vaults onto multiple external drives and burning each project onto DVD after an import.

I finally received my new Macbook Pro! It’s a beautiful machine and now that I have it up and running I can share a few things with you. I posted some new pics from my trip to Portland in my gallery, and will be uploading more as soon as I get the free time. Work is really tying me up right now.

October Update

So I haven’t had a computer the last few weeks due to my new Macbook Pro being backordered. I have a ton of news to share with everyone when I get around to updating the site. I started a new job at Qwest Field so I’ve been really busy with work and school.
